Inovape Explains Vaping. What are Nicotine Salts? How do they compare to freebased nicotine?

The newest installment of the Inovape Explains Vaping series. This time we want to explain what Nicotine Salts are, and why they might be of interest to you!

What’s the difference between Nicotine Salts and a normal liquid?

Nicotine Salts are a different type of purified nicotine compared to the usual freebased nicotine. Nicotine Salts, because of the way they are purified, are very efficient at getting nicotine into your system. Nic Salts also deliver a less harsh hit compared with free-based nicotine, allowing you to have a higher nicotine level with a smaller throat hit. This allows you to take in more nicotine per drag, and so you could potentially use less liquids.

Why would you use a Nicotine Salt?

There are multiple potential benefits for why you may want to use nicotine salts over freebased nicotine:

  • Faster nicotine delivery – As discussed above, nic salts get into your system much faster than freebased nicotine. The nicotine enters your blood stream at a similar speed to normal cigarettes, which is the feeling that smokers trying to quit want to replicate. This is a huge advantage for nic salts and is the reasons people are giving them and try and starting to switch across.
  • Potential to use less liquid – Because of the impact of the faster nicotine delivery, you get the feeling you want faster. This means that you are likely to use less liquid. This in turn leads to you stocking up quicker and going through less coils, an advantage for anyone!
  • Smoother throat hit – Nicotine Salts allow you to vape a higher nicotine strength, with a smooth and less harsh throat hit. This is a great advantage for you to get more nicotine in, without a throat hit that is too strong for you.

Is it safer to vape nicotine salts rather than freebased nicotine?

The evidence on this suggests that nicotine salts are no worse or better for you than freebased nic salts. There is the potential that due to the less drags you would use, that nic salts may actually be safer than freebased nicotine.

It’s worth noting, we don’t recommend using a high strength nicotine salt (20mg) in a powerful device. If you do want to try nic salts in a higher powered device we would recommend starting with the lowest strength you can find.
